Departure Bay Children's Centre (DBCC) is a licensed in home multi-age centre for 8 children. We are located in the jewel of Nanaimo BC, Departure Bay.
Our centre is a Reggio Emilia inspired program which values the child as strong, capable and resilient; rich with wonder and knowledge. Every child brings with them deep curiosity and potential and this innate curiosity drives their interest to understand their world and their place within it.

The difference between DBCC and every other family or group daycare I visited was simply Stef herself. Stef naturally exudes that loving, welcoming and caring vibe the minute you enter her center. You are immediately relieved of the pressures to find someone to care for your child, because you finally found that person. Not many places give off that kind of positive energy, but when you walk in the door at Stef's, that is exactly what you get.

I think selecting the right child care provider must be one of the hardest decisions a parent has to make. I mean, it’s not something you can just “settle on”. These are our precious children we are talking about here! The moment we walked in to the center and Stef smiled and introduced herself, it was like the tension immediately lifted. She was completely at ease with us and my son, who is very energetic to say the least. By the end of our meeting, all of our questions had been answered, but more importantly we left with the feeling that this was quite simply, “the one” and felt completely confident in our decision to put our son in her care.
